Meenakshi Singh, M.D., a nationally recognized authority in the histologic diagnosis of cancer of the breast, ovaries and endometrium is an expert in the field of surgical pathology, fine needle aspiration cytology, and anatomic pathology. She is active in quality improvement and patient safety program.
Dr. Singh is the Vice Dean for Faculty Affairs at Stonybrook University. Before coming to Stony Brook, Dr. Singh was Professor and Director of Surgical Pathology at the University of Colorado at Denver. Her numerous research initiatives include the investigation of biomarkers in breast cancer and hormone receptors in endometrial and ovarian cancers. Dr. Singh has been a State Commissioner for the College of American Pathologists and served as the Co-Director of the Hormone Receptor Core Laboratory of the Gynecologic Oncology Group. She is the author of the Digital Atlas of Breast Pathology and the Digital Atlas of Gynecologic Pathology and has also authored 80 research papers in high-impact peer-reviewed pathology journals. A member of the American College of Physician Executives, the College of American Pathologists and the International Society of Breast Pathology, Dr. has received numerous awards, including the Colorado Society of Clinical Pathologists Award for service, dedication, leadership and outstanding achievement and several Excellence in Teaching awards from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Dr. Singh graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree (M.B.B.S.) from Christian Medical College and Hospital in Ludhiana, India where she also received her M.D. Pathology degree. She was a consultant pathologist in India until becoming a senior research pathologist at AMC Cancer Research Center in Denver, CO. She completed her pathology residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, and a surgical pathology fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA. |
